TheCôte de Nacre hospital is geared towards adult medicine and surgery. The facility admits more than 50,000 patients annually, including 20,000 emergency patients.

The Côte de Nacre hospital is a single-unit structure, built in the early 1970s and put into service in 1975 to compensate for the unsuitability of the Clemenceau hospital premises for new care and accommodation techniques.

From its height of 86 meters, anchored in the ground at a depth of 15 meters, the concrete tower dominates the Caen conurbation with its 23 floors.

With 998 beds and 4630 professionals (including 551 medical), the establishment contributes to the treatment of a very large part of medical and surgical pathologies by diagnostic and therapeutic means ranging from the most common to the most "cutting-edge" such as organ transplants.

To fulfill its mission, the Côte de Nacre hospital has a heavy technical platform (MRI, scanners, laboratories…) and a significant logistical potential.

Located on the northern plateau of Caen, near the ring road, which greatly facilitates its "irrigation", it is the reference hospital in Lower Normandy.

To ensure the best quality of care, and to meet increasing safety requirements, a vast modernization plan is underway for the next 10 years.
