The Côte de Nacre hospital is oriented towards adult medicine and surgery. The establishment hospitalizes more than 50,000 patients annually, including 20,000 in emergencies.

The Côte de Nacre hospital is a one-piece structure , built in the early 1970s and put into service in 1975 in order to compensate for the unsuitability of the premises of the Clemenceau hospital for new care and accommodation techniques.

From the top of its 86 meters, anchored in the ground at a depth of 15 meters, the concrete tower dominates the Caen conurbation from its 23 floors.

With 998 beds and 4,630 professionals ( including 551 medical ), the establishment contributes to the treatment of a very large number of medical and surgical pathologies by diagnostic and therapeutic means, from the most usual to the most “advanced” such as organ transplants. organs.

To carry out its mission, the Côte de Nacre hospital has a heavy technical platform ( MRI , scanners, laboratories, etc. ) and substantial logistical potential.

Located on the northern plateau of Caen, near the ring road, which greatly facilitates its “irrigation”, it is the reference hospital establishment in Lower Normandy.
