  • Missions

    The main missions of the CESU are:

    • to contribute to initial and continuing training relating to the management of medical emergencies, in daily or exceptional situations (decree of March 25, 2007). The teaching provided ranges from basic survival skills to medical behavior in emergency medicine specialties,
    • to participate in research in applied pedagogy, the promotion of health education and the prevention of health risks.

    General information on training

    The AFGSU (Certificate of Training in Emergency Gestures and Care) aims to take charge, alone or in a team, of a person in an emergency situation involving vital and functional prognosis and to apply the measures and use of individual and collective protection against a risk with health consequences.

    The validation of these trainings is summative:

    • presence at all sequences,
    • realization of each technical gesture during the practical sequences,
    • appropriate behavior during two emergency situations, one of which involves cardiac arrest.

    Once the training has been validated, a level 1 or 2 emergency treatment and care training certificate is issued in accordance with the decree of March 3, 2006. This certificate is valid for four years. The extension of validity is subject to participation in a one-day requalification which must take place before the validity date.

    The dates of these trainings are to be determined with the secretariat.
    The training takes place at CESU 14, within the CHU Caen Normandie.

    In 2023: 2,261 people were trained at CESU14

    AFGSU Level 1 Initial Training

    Public: administrative staff or agents of hospital services working in health establishments or medico-social structures .

    Duration : 2 days of 7 hours
    Cost : €254 per person

    AFGSU Level 2 Initial Training

    Audience :

    • Professions listed in the fourth part of the public health code and students enrolled in training courses for obtaining the diploma (doctor, dentist, midwife, pharmacist, pharmacy assistant, nurse, masseur-physiotherapist, podiatrist-podiatrist, occupational therapist, psychomotor therapist, speech therapist, orthoptist, medical electroradiology manipulator, medical laboratory technician, audioprosthetist, eyewear optician, prosthetist, orthotist, dietitian, caregiver, childcare assistant, ambulance driver, paramedic assistant, dental assistant
    • Persons holding the diploma of medico-psychological assistance or educational and social support mentioned in article R.451-95 451-88 of the code of social action and families or in training
    • People holding the diploma of medical regulation assistant or in training
    • medical assistants
    • Blood samplers for medical biology examinations
    Duration : 3 days of 7 hours

    AFGSU Retraining Level 1 / Level 2

    Updating of knowledge, it is mandatory before the end of 4 years of initial training or requalification.

    Duration : 1 day of 7 hours

    In-Service Cardiac Arrest Training

    Objective: in-hospital management of a patient in cardiac arrest. Enables service professionals to become familiar with service procedure support with service materials.

    IDE SMUR – ADE SMUR : adaptation to employment for practice in UMH-P

    Objective: To be able to take care of a patient (adult and child) outside the medical presence. (diagnosis, care actions, specific technical procedures and pre-hospital monitoring in connection with medical regulations following current SFMU recommendations).

    Personnel concerned: nurses and paramedics from SMUR Calvados.

    IDEs must have at least 2 years of experience in a SAMU or 4 years in an emergency service as a full-time equivalent and must be up to date with the AFGSU2 .

    ADEs must have more than 2 years in SMUR and be up to date with AFGSU2.

    Duration: 21 hours over 3 days

    Cost: €370 per person

  • Exceptional Health Situations

    The CESU organizes specific training , according to the decree of July 1, 2019 for decontaminating or protecting the establishment in a nuclear or chemical situation. For these courses, contact the secretariat who will check your eligibility for registration.

    1 Emergency hospital decontamination and means of individual and collective protection

    Prerequisite : holding an AFGSU 1 or 2

    2 Thorough hospital decontamination

    (appendix 8 of the decree)

    Public : healthcare professionals and staff of healthcare establishments participating in the implementation of a thorough hospital decontamination unit.
    This training has Appendix 7 as a prerequisite, the initial training includes the 2 appendices 7 and 8 and takes place over 2 days of 7 hours – the annual recycling is a half-day of 3h30

    Validity of training : 1 year

    Dates of initial training 2024 : March 28 and 29; December 9 and 10

    Recycling dates 2024 : May 14; October 10; 21 November ;

    3 Emergency decontamination, individual and collective means of protection and patient care for SMUR

    Public : doctors, nurses and paramedics working within the SMUR
