Emergency Care Education Center

The Emergency Care Education Center ( CESU ) is a functional unit of the SAMU of CHU Caen Normandie.

  • It trains nursing staff, whether students or professionals, in emergency procedures and care , as well as non-nursing staff in health or medico-social establishments.
  • He is also in charge of training in the event of an exceptional health situation according to the decree of December 30, 2014 amended by the decree of July 1, 2019.
  • Finally, he is available if there is a request for specific training related to the topic of emergency care.

    • to contribute to initial and continuing training relating to the management of medical emergencies, in daily or exceptional situations (decree of March 25, 2007). The teaching provided ranges from basic survival skills to medical behavior in emergency medicine specialties,
    • to participate in research in applied pedagogy, the promotion of health education and the prevention of health risks.

    The AFGSU (Certificate of Training in Emergency Gestures and Care) aims to take charge, alone or in a team, of a person in an emergency situation involving vital and functional prognosis and to apply the measures and use of individual and collective protection against a risk with health consequences.

    Educational equipment: low-fidelity adult and infant mannequins, “false road” mannequins, training defibrillator, medical bed, emergency trolley, various training materials (splints, stretchers, tourniquets, makeup, etc.), computer supports

    The training takes place in:

    • Practical workshops for learning gestures
    • Emergency situation simulation sessions adapted to the context and professional skills allowing continuous formative assessment
    • Active pedagogy, discovery pedagogy and learning through error techniques

     

    Validation of training – Certificate – Validity of the certificate

    The validation of these trainings is summative:

    • Attendance at the entire training
    • Performing each technical gesture during practical sequences
    • Appropriate behavior during two emergency situations, including one involving cardiac arrest

    Once the training has been validated, a certificate of training in emergency procedures and care level 1 or 2 is issued in accordance with the decree of March 3, 2006. This certificate is valid for 4 years listed on the certificate. Extension of validity is subject to participation in a one-day requalification which must take place before the validity date.

    Validation of training – Certificate – Validity of the certificate

    The validation of these trainings is summative:

    • Attendance at the entire training
    • Performing each technical gesture during practical sequences
    • Appropriate behavior during two emergency situations, including one involving cardiac arrest

    Once the training has been validated, a certificate of training in emergency procedures and care level 1 or 2 is issued in accordance with the decree of March 3, 2006. This certificate is valid for 4 years listed on the certificate. Extension of validity is subject to participation in a one-day requalification which must take place before the validity date.

    AFGSU Level 1 Initial Training

    Goals :

    • Be able to identify a medical emergency and handle it alone or as a team while waiting for the medical team to arrive
    • Be able to identify your role in the event of a white plan being triggered and be aware of exceptional health risks

    Public & prerequisites : administrative staff or hospital service agents working in health establishments or medico-social structures .

    Duration : 2 days of 7 hours – i.e. 14 hours

    AFGSU Level 2 Initial Training

    Goals :

    • Be able to identify and take care of a medical emergency alone or as a team, using non-invasive techniques while waiting for the medical team to arrive
    • Be able to integrate into the implementation of contingency plans

    Audience & prerequisites :

    • Professions listed in the fourth part of the public health code and students enrolled in training courses for obtaining the diploma (doctor, dentist, midwife, pharmacist, pharmacy assistant, nurse, masseur-physiotherapist, podiatrist-podiatrist, occupational therapist, psychomotor therapist, speech therapist, orthoptist, medical electroradiology manipulator, medical laboratory technician, audioprosthetist, eyewear optician, prosthetist, orthotist, dietitian, caregiver, childcare assistant, ambulance driver, paramedic assistant, dental assistant
    • Persons holding the diploma of medico-psychological assistance or educational and social support mentioned in article R.451-95 451-88 of the code of social action and families or in training

    Objectives : Update the knowledge acquired during initial training by taking into account new recommendations linked to current health and scientific issues.

    Public & prerequisites : Person holding an AFGSU certificate and whose extension is subject to requalification before the end of its 4-year validity.

    Duration : 1 day of 7 hours

    In-Service Cardiac Arrest Training

    Objective : To be able to recognize and manage a cardiac arrest in your usual workplace. Allows service professionals to familiarize themselves with handling service procedures using service equipment.

    As part of a request for hospital services for improvement of practices, certification, etc.
    The program will be adapted to the specificities of the requests.

    Duration : 2 hours

    IDE SMUR – ADE SMUR : adaptation to employment for practice in UMH-P

    Objective : To be able to take care of a patient (adult and child) outside the medical presence (diagnosis, care actions, specific technical procedures and pre-hospital monitoring in line with medical regulations following current SFMU recommendations).

    Personnel concerned : nurses and paramedics from SMUR Calvados.

    IDEs 2 years of experience in a SAMU or 4 years in an emergency service as a full-time equivalent and must be up to date with the AFGSU2 .
    ADEs must have more than 2 years in SMUR and be up to date with AFGSU2.

    Initial training:

      The CESU organizes specific training , according to the decree of July 1, 2019 for decontaminating or protecting the establishment in a nuclear or chemical situation. For these courses, contact the secretariat who will check your eligibility for registration.

      1 Emergency hospital decontamination and means of individual and collective protection

      Public : health professionals and personnel of health establishments responsible for receiving and/or caring for contaminated victims

      Public : healthcare professionals and staff of healthcare establishments participating in the implementation of a thorough hospital decontamination unit.
      This training has Appendix 7 as a prerequisite, the initial training includes the 2 appendices 7 and 8 and takes place over 2 days of 7 hours – the annual recycling is a half-day of 3h30
