Activities

Your welcome

Upon arrival, in order to complete your file, please present your identity card, your health insurance card and your supplementary health insurance card, and the E111 forms for foreigners.

Your order of appearance

ONLY LIFE-THREATENING OR FUNCTIONAL EMERGENCIES GET PRIORITY.

Arrival order is only taken into account for emergencies of similar severity. Your waiting time therefore depends on:

  • Depending on the level of urgency of your condition,
  • Of the number of patients,
  • Regarding the arrival or not of other patients in more serious condition,
  • Regarding the availability of the appropriate emergency sector.
Your contacts
  • Emergency physician,
  • Specialist physician,
  • Medical student (extern or intern),
  • Reception and orientation nurse,
  • State-certified nurse,
  • Caregiver.
  • Stretcher bearer
Your companions

Companions are not allowed in the care area, except with special authorization from the doctor or nurse. Civic service volunteers, identifiable by their blue vests, are present to facilitate communication between patients, caregivers, and companions.

With your consent, your loved ones will be informed of your health status and the expected waiting time. They can wait in the waiting room or leave and call for updates.

Why are you waiting?

The waiting time in the emergency room can depend on:

  • The duration of the clinical examination,
  • Regarding the time required to obtain further examinations,
  • The need for an opinion from another specialist,
  • Waiting for a hospital bed.

These delays are unfortunately unavoidable.
Healthcare professionals at Caen Normandy University Hospital are doing everything they can to reduce them.
