Welcome to the website of the Caen Normandy University Hospital!

This page will help you prepare for your arrival at the University Hospital and complete the necessary procedures within our institution. All this information can also be found in the welcome booklet, which can be viewed at the bottom of this page and will be given to you upon your admission.

Your arrival at the Caen Normandy University Hospital

Scheduled hospitalization or consultation:
Save time by registering your arrival online!

Complete your pre-admission on the Caen Normandy University Hospital website no later than two days before your appointment. Upon arrival, you will need to scan the barcode on your appointment confirmation (sent by the receptionist when you booked your appointment) at the interactive kiosks located at the hospital entrance. Once your file has been validated, you can go directly to the department without stopping at the admissions office.

Emergency hospitalization

I am being hospitalized in an emergency

A reception area is set up at the entrance to the emergency department to collect information regarding your identity and your care.
In case of an accident

If a patient's identity is not available upon arrival, a procedure is in place to create their file. The information will be updated later after identification.

I am a minor or a legally incapacitated adult

Admission to Caen Normandy University Hospital is at the request of the parents, legal guardian, or judicial authority.
In the case of surgery or procedures requiring anesthesia, their written and signed authorization is essential. Without this authorization, no operation can be performed except in emergencies.

I am not affiliated with mandatory health insurance

Hospitalized individuals without social security coverage will be responsible for all hospitalization costs. In such cases, for any scheduled hospitalization, an estimated cost estimate must be provided, and specific coverage procedures apply.
To arrange this, please contact us at 02 31 06 33 77 or by email.

Payment of a deposit: Patients are then asked to pay a renewable deposit to the Caen Normandy University Hospital's cashier or the hospital's treasury. This deposit is calculated based on the estimated length of stay*. Admission will then be possible upon presentation of a payment receipt for the full estimated amount shown on the quote.

In the event of an extended stay, an additional fee will be payable. If the stay is shortened, the difference will be refunded.

Provide your email address upon admission and complete e-Satis, the national survey conducted by the French National Authority for Health

How to respond to the survey?

You provide your email address* upon admission or discharge from the facility to receive the e-Satis questionnaire once you return home.

Your email address will only be used for this purpose and will not be shared with third parties. It will not be used for advertising or commercial purposes.

What does the questionnaire contain?

By anonymously answering the e-Satis questionnaire, you are giving your opinion on:

  • the reception at the establishment
  • your care by healthcare professionals
  • your room and your meals
  • organizing your return home

Why is your opinion important?

  • You help your hospital or clinic to know its strengths and areas for improvement.
  • You are contributing to improving the quality of care in healthcare facilities.
  • You allow each person to find out about the level of patient satisfaction at the establishment of their choice on QualiScope.
