Sleep Disorders Exploration and Treatment Unit

The sleep disorder exploration and treatment unit at the University Hospital is a multidisciplinary sleep center accredited by the French Society for Sleep Research and Medicine since 2008, and labeled a mixed center for the management of all sleep and wakefulness disorders in children/adults since June 2023.

Activities

Missions

Its main mission is the management of sleep disorders in adults and children: consultations, investigations and treatments.

  • specialist consultations (pulmonology, neurology, psychiatry, pediatrics, neuropediatrics)
  • Explorations: respiratory polygraphy, polysomnography, vigilance tests, in dedicated hospital rooms with paramedical staff specifically trained in these techniques.
  • Treatments: implementation and monitoring of nocturnal continuous positive airway pressure ventilation, wakefulness-promoting treatments, CBT of insomnia, etc.
Collaborations

The unit works closely with the neurology,ENT, maxillofacial surgery, pulmonology and pediatrics. It provides referral diagnoses for complex sleep disorders in Western Normandy, participates in teaching activities (training of medical and paramedical staff), communication and research in this field.

Sleep consultations and examinations are offered only upon written request from a doctor.
