Throat cancers and HPV
In France, in 2015, 40 to 60% of new cases of oropharyngeal cancer were attributable to HPV (source: International Agency for Research on Cancer).
If these HPV -induced cancers are treated in the same way as other oropharyngeal cancers, they have a better prognosis than cancers linked to tobacco and/or alcohol.
Ultimately, the prevention of these cancers through vaccination, as for cervical cancers, could be considered.
