Gynecological cancers: awareness day
During Gynecological Cancer Awareness Month, also known as Turquoise September, the gynecology at Caen Normandy University Hospital will be available on Monday, September 9th, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM to provide information about these cancers, screening, symptoms, and treatments. This event is supported by the Imagyn association and will be attended by the Calvados branch of the League Against Cancer.
Conference and information booth
11am – 4pm: Information booths (Caen Normandy University Hospital, Imagyn Association, League Against Cancer)
4-5pm: public conference on cancer prevention, screening and treatment and presentation of the Imagyn association.
Gynecological cancers affect the female reproductive system and include cancers of the endometrium, cervix, and ovary. There are also rarer cancers such as those of the vagina, vulva, and fallopian tubes. Nearly 15,000 new cases of these gynecological tumors are diagnosed in France each year.*
The importance of regular monitoring and early detection
The "Turquoise September" awareness month aims to encourage women to learn more about these cancers, to recognize the warning signs and to understand the importance of early detection and available treatments.
It is therefore essential to have regular check-ups with your gynecologist.
Multidisciplinary care for gynecological cancers at Caen Normandy University Hospital
The gynecology department at Caen Normandy University Hospital provides diagnosis and treatment for precancerous and cancerous lesions when suspected during screening, through a multidisciplinary approach. Specialists in imaging, medical oncology, surgery, radiotherapy, pathology, and oncogenetics discuss each case in a multidisciplinary team meeting to offer patients optimal care.
The teams also pay particular attention to fertility preservation, as well as to topics on sexuality and post-therapeutic gynecological disorders, with specialized support and the possibility of innovative treatment such as vaginal laser.
