After cancer: the importance of long-term follow-up
Following recovery, medical, psychological, or social complications may emerge, such as malaise, academic or professional difficulties, emotional disorders linked to body image or sexuality, eating disorders. , as well as physical after-effects. In order to provide comprehensive care to patients and ensure long-term follow-up after treatment has stopped, the pediatric onco-hematology recently welcomed a dedicated onco-radiotherapist.
Portrait – Dr Charlotte Demoor-Goldschmidt
Dr Charlotte Demoor-Goldschmidt, onco-radiotherapist, is an expert in long-term follow-up of adult patients who had cancer during childhood and adolescence and specializes in pediatrics. She quickly became involved in pediatric oncology and post-cancer follow-up. Regionally involved in the GOCE (Grand Ouest des Cancers de l'Enfant) and working part-time at Angers University Hospital , she holds a thesis in public health and epidemiology.
Collaborating with Gustave Roussy's INSERM unit , she participates in several research projects in France and Europe, covering various aspects of post-cancer, including pathways, quality of life, complications, screening, and digital tools.
At the national level, Dr Demoor-Goldschmidt serves as co-president of the long-term monitoring committee of the Société Française Childhood Cancers , sits on the scientific council of the Adolescent and Young Adult Onco-Hematology Group , and contributes to associative initiatives in being a member of the scientific council of the patients association “Les Aguerris”. At the European level, she is part of the PanCare .
Within the establishment, its field of action will focus on the adolescence/adult transition and aspects related to the organization of patient follow-up in the post-cancer period.
