How to put a baby to bed safely?
Information provided by the Reference Centre for Sudden Infant Death at CHU Caen Normandie ( Neonatology) as part of the national week for the prevention of information and prevention of sudden infant death.
Sudden infant death
In France, between 250 and 350 babies die each year from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). France has one of the highest rates of SIDS in Europe. Despite a decrease of more than 75% in the number of deaths following national "I sleep on my back" campaigns and advice on safe sleeping practices in the 1990s, the number of deaths has stagnated since the 2000s. It is currently estimated that 50% of SIDS cases could still be prevented by adhering to recommended preventative measures, particularly regarding the environment and sleeping conditions.
