SYLVER: a revolution in brain imaging

Dr. Clément Gakuba 's team anesthesia and intensive care unit at the Caen Normandy University Hospital is offering a new SYLVER device, developed by the startup Resolve Stroke, which allows for brain perfusion imaging directly at the patient's bedside.

  • With its tenfold increase in acquisition and computing power, this device could push back the limits of conventional ultrasound by providing new data in the monitoring of meningeal hemorrhages.
  • A first study was conducted in the neuro-intensive care department of the University Hospital of Caen on a cohort of 15 patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage.
  • This study demonstrated the feasibility of the technology and made it possible to identify various cerebral perfusion profiles depending on the severity of the patients' condition.
  • The results have already been presented at international conferences and will be published this year. Although preliminary, these advances promise to improve patient care.

Well done for this innovation and to the teams mobilized every day alongside the patients!
