Sustainable development
At the CHU, a team dedicated to sustainable development
Since 2020, the Caen Normandy University Hospital has had a sustainable development department whose mission is to change practices within the institution. The department's areas of focus are energy, waste, sustainable procurement, and mobility. The goal is to make the hospital a healthy and sustainable place.
Elise Rigaud
Elise joined the University Hospital in 2021 as an apprentice in the sustainable development department and has been the regional coordinator for energy and ecological transition in healthcare since September 2022. The ecological transition is a cause that motivates her to take action in various areas (plant-based diets, local consumption, waste reduction, etc.). Thanks to her studies in sustainable development and her personal convictions, she is driven to bring about change.
Morgan Lefrançois
Having worked at the University Hospital since 2009 and after managing several diverse departments, including cleaning, laundry, and waste management, Morgan was entrusted in 2020 with the responsibility of a new service: the sustainable development department. He is committed to promoting the values of sustainable development, which align with those of the University Hospital: providing care, improving daily life and quality of life, prevention, and concern for the future.
Geoffrey Lecoq
Despite his studies in electrical engineering, Geoffrey made a complete career change in 2012, joining the Caen University Hospital's groundskeeping department. This shift allowed him to pursue a career directly related to the environment, a cause he is deeply committed to, both professionally and personally. Since 2020, he has served as a sustainable development ambassador, taking a hands-on approach to support staff in the ecological transition.
Julian Tison
Julian joined the University Hospital in January 2023 to work with Elise Rigaud on her team as an Energy and Ecological Transition Advisor in Healthcare (CTEES). His role is to assist the hospitals within the Hospital Group (GHT Normandie Centre) in monitoring their energy consumption while proposing investment plans to reduce it. A thermal engineer by training, he decided to leave his position as a nuclear studies engineer to take on this new mission initiated by the National Agency for the Support of Healthcare Performance (ANAP), with the primary goal of achieving the objectives of the Tertiary Sector Decree (a 40% reduction in energy consumption by 2030).
