Donating one or more of your organs and tissues is an active way to save lives or improve the quality of life of sick people. French law states that we are all organ and tissue donors unless we have explicitly stated our refusal to donate.

Whatever your wishes regarding organ and tissue donation, inform your loved ones!

The Hospital Coordination for Organ and Tissue Donation manages and secures organ and tissue donation, supports donors' families and conducts awareness campaigns on donation for the general public, in collaboration with the Biomedicine Agency.

Organ and tissue donation activity at the University Hospital

At the Caen Normandy University Hospital, in 2023, 58 donors were identified, of which 26 organs were retrieved and 92 were transplanted Fifty-two corneas were also , allowing many patients to regain their sight.
