Donating one or more of your organs and tissues means actively contributing to saving lives or improving the quality of life of sick people. French law indicates that we are all organ and tissue donors, unless we have explicitly expressed our refusal to be donated.

The Hospital Coordination of Organ and Tissue Harvesting manages and secures the harvesting of organs and tissues, supports donors' relatives and carries out awareness-raising activities on donation among all audiences, in collaboration with the Biomedicine Agency .

Organ and tissue harvesting activity at the University Hospital

At Caen Normandy University Hospital, in 2023, 58 donors could be identified, including 26 donors and 92 transplanted organs . 52 corneas were also , allowing many patients to regain their sight.
