#Dday80 Commemoration
June 6 – Access to the Caen Normandy University Hospital
To mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings and the Bataille of Normandy, the Prefecture of Calvados will implement a regulated traffic zone for the day of June 6, 2024.
The Caen Normandy University Hospital advises you to anticipate traffic difficulties given the expected flow of traffic.
Regulated traffic zone (ZCR)
Traffic in the ZCR will be heavily disrupted all day on June 6 from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. , with temporary road closures under the control of law enforcement, roads prohibited except for residents and one-way traffic systems put in place.
Three main roads will be closed for part of the day on June 6 to ensure the timely transport of veterans, their families, logistics personnel, and delegations:
- RN13,
- Northern ring road (Porte de Paris – Porte du Bessin),
- Western ring road (inner direction – Porte du Bessin – Eterville).
The roads leading to the ceremony sites will be closed from 6 a.m., and reopened to traffic after the ceremonies.
