How to put a baby to bed safely?
Information offered by the Reference Center for Unexpected Infant Deaths at Caen Normandy University Hospital (neonatal department ) as part of the national week for information prevention and prevention of unexpected infant deaths.
Unexpected infant death
In France, each year, 250 to 350 babies die of unexpected infant death. France is one of the European countries with the highest prevalence. Despite a reduction of more than 75% in the number of deaths following national “I sleep on my back” campaigns and prevention advice around sleeping in the 1990s, the number of deaths has stagnated since the 2000s. It is currently estimated that Another 50% of cases of unexpected infant death could be avoided by respecting the recommended prevention measures, particularly in terms of environment and sleeping arrangements.
