Heart failure awareness day in Caen

In order to inform the general public about the risk factors and symptoms of heart failure, the cardiology department of the Caen Normandy University Hospital is organizing an awareness day at Place Bouchard in Caen, on Wednesday, September 18, from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

With the support of the city of Caen , Planeth patient , the Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathies Group (GICC) and the French Society of Cardiology (SFC) and the participation of several patient associations.

Meet us in the heart of Caen with the following program

  • Practical workshops: blood pressure measurement, educational games on nutrition to better understand the impact of nutrition on heart health, step aerobics "in conditions" of heart failure;
  • Mindful eating: learn to identify salty foods and their impact on health, with practical tips for a balanced diet;
  • Prevention and screening: a detailed look at the warning signs of heart failure and the preventive measures to adopt.

Children will not be forgotten and will be able to decorate the stand with some coloring pages!

Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet patient associations that are fighting to raise awareness of this disease and share their experiences:

Heart failure in a nutshell

Heart failure is a set of symptoms that includes fatigue, shortness of breath, edema formation, and weight gain (due to water retention).

Today, it affects 1.5 million French people, particularly those over 60. With the aging population, this figure could increase by 25% every four years. Despite its rapid rise, heart failure and its symptoms remain poorly understood and underestimated by the general population. Thus, in France, between 400,000 and 700,000 people suffer from it without knowing it.*

It is therefore essential to know the signs that should prompt a medical consultation.
