12th Regional Day of Supportive Cancer Care in Normandy

On Friday, September 26, 2025, the Hôtel Barrière Le Royal in Deauville will host the 12th Regional Day of Supportive Cancer Care (SOS). Organized by the OncoNormandie network, in partnership with AFSOS (French-Speaking Association for Supportive Cancer Care), this meeting will bring together healthcare professionals, associations, and experts around a common goal: improving the quality of life of cancer patients.

Why organize a day dedicated to supportive oncology care?

Supportive care is essential in the cancer treatment pathway. It was clearly defined in 2005 by the DHOS circular as encompassing all the care and support needed by patients throughout their illness, alongside specific treatments when applicable. In other words, it includes everything that helps patients live better during and after treatment. This day is dedicated to highlighting this crucial aspect and sharing best practices in Normandy.

What will be the main themes addressed this year?

The program is rich and varied. We will discuss pain, sexuality and cancer, as well as complementary solutions such as acupuncture. Workshops are also planned on cognitive disorders and disability, and on the latest published studies on SOS (single-point emergency services). The idea is to alternate between lectures, sharing of experiences, and practical exchanges, so that everyone can leave with concrete tools to use in their professional life.

Why is it important to bring together so many different profiles around these topics?

Supportive care is, by its very nature, cross-cutting. It involves all healthcare professionals as well as patient associations… each has a particular approach and specific expertise. By bringing everyone together, we create a collective dynamic that directly benefits patients. It is also an opportunity to highlight existing regional resources and encourage new collaborations.
