The resident star actors of a short film to discover at Lux!

As part of a cultural and health project, 13 residents of the La Charité retirement home participated in the creation of a short film on the theme of travel. Guided in several workshops by director Aurélia Buquet and screenwriter and director Arthur Shelton, the residents became familiar with filmmaking techniques and acting. The film, approximately ten minutes long, will be screened for the public at the Lux cinema on Thursday, March 23rd at 2 pm.

Discovering the art of cinema , in front of and behind the camera

For several days, the residents were able to discover the world of cinema, brainstorming a story to tell, writing a script, positioning the camera, and working on their acting skills, voice placement, diction, and eye contact.
After 21 preparatory workshops, filming took place over three days in the residence's premises and on the streets of Caen.

The film "Voyage, Voyage" in a few words

“A postcard arrives in the mailbox, like an invitation to leave. The audacity of a journey, daring to explore a dreamlike elsewhere… Here we go! The characters, each in turn, envision their ideal destinations and take us along on a poetic world tour.”

The residents also created screen-printed t-shirts and other merchandise with the association L'Encrage, featuring images from their film. It was a particularly joyful moment, continuing the tradition of the film workshops, blending laughter and sharing.

A collaborative effort to foster exchanges and boost self-esteem

This project reflects the Caen Normandy University Hospital's commitment to providing high-quality care and support to its users, including residents, families, and visitors. By incorporating culture into the La Charité retirement home, the project helps maintain connections with the outside world.

In these living spaces, it is an opportunity to bring conviviality, by promoting exchanges between the people concerned: residents, families, caregivers and medical staff while promoting self-esteem.

This mix of people involved in the project is the result of a strong commitment from the Caen Normandy University Hospital; it allows residents to get out of their daily routine, discover new worlds, and also learn.

This project is also part of the development and consolidation of local partnerships between the Caen Normandy University Hospital and local cultural structures and artists.
