Our services

Activity

This activity encompasses all requests from Medical Virology: virological analyses in hospitalized patients or consultants at the University Hospital and specialized virological analyses requested for public hospitals, clinics and medical analysis laboratories.

It involves the direct detection of viruses as well as the detection of corresponding antibodies. The infectious agents concerned are:

HIV and HTLV retroviruses ,
hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E viruses
the viruses that cause meningitis and viral encephalitis (enteroviruses, herpes, etc.),
Respiratory viruses: influenza and parainfluenza viruses, RSV, adenovirus, rhinovirus, coronavirus,
Viruses that cause eruptive fevers: measles, rubella, herpes, chickenpox, parvovirus B19, human herpes simplex virus type 6,
Lymphotropic herpesviruses: cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr, herpes 6, papillomavirus and poliomavirus.

The research

Clinical research

Research activity is primarily focused on respiratory infections infections RSV, human coronaviruses, rhinoviruses and adenoviruses, chlamydia pneumoniae and mycoplasma pneumoniae infections) and on viral infections transmitted from mother to child and occurring in immunocompromised subjects (cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr).

It focuses in particular on:

the development of molecular tools (PCR, PCR real-time for the search for viral genomes,
the molecular epidemiological study and genetic variability for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), coronaviruses, adenoviruses and rhinoviruses,
The impact study on the pathology of new infectious agents: coronavirus, rhinovirus, Respiratory Syncytial Virus in the elderly,
congenital transmission of cytomegalovirus infection.
