Normandie Sporte contre le Cancer – Adapted Games 2024!
Supported by the OncoNormandie Regional Cancerology Network and initiated by the Caen Normandie University Hospital in 2016, “Normandie Sporte contre le Cancer” is an event promoting Adapted Physical Activity ( APA ) for therapeutic purposes for people with cancer .
The benefits of APA
The positive impacts of the APA intervene in the 3 levels of cancer prevention allowing:
- limit the appearance of the disease (primary prevention)
- fight against the adverse effects of the disease and its treatments (secondary prevention)
- limit the risks of recurrence (tertiary prevention)
The goal is therefore to raise public awareness of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and to provide information on the benefits of physical activity in preventing cancer. Practicing appropriate physical activity on a regular basis is essential. According to studies carried out on certain types of cancer, appropriate physical activity in cancer patients reduces fatigue (30%), improves quality of life, or even reduces the risk of recurrence (up to 40%).
