teams from the CHU vaccination center against papillomavirus
In Normandy, a vaccination system against human papillomavirus ( HPV ) in college was set up in 2019 by the Regional Health Agency and the Normandy Academy , in partnership with the centers of the Caen Normandie University Hospital, of the Foundation Hospitaller Miséricorde and CH Eure-Seine grade students .
Vaccination is offered to 5th grade students and is carried out directly in colleges by the team from the Calvados Manche Orne vaccination center at Caen Normandy University Hospital . 80 colleges must be visited in 2023, or around 2 per week.
This vaccination against the papillomavirus includes two doses between 11 and 14 years of age and 3 doses between 15 and 19 years of age. The booster dose is administered between 6 and 12 months after the first for vaccination between 11 and 14 years of age . The 2023 vaccination started in mid-September. At the end of October, 13 colleges received professionals from the center, i.e. 1,064 middle school students, including 229 who were vaccinated against HPV , or 21.5% of the children.
Some numbers :
- Between 2019 and 2023: the teams met 17,500 5th grade middle school students
- 33% of parents accept at least 1 vaccine and among these 33%, 80% on average accept the HPV
- As many girls as boys are vaccinated
- Over 4 years 16% of middle school students will be vaccinated
