Heart Failure Awareness Day
In order to inform the general public about the risk factors and symptoms of heart failure, the cardiology department of the Caen Normandy University Hospital is organizing an awareness day in front of the Egg Amphitheater in the University Hospital Hall from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Come test your knowledge about heart failure and ask all your questions!
Heart failure in a nutshell:
- Heart failure is a set of symptoms that includes fatigue, shortness of breath, edema formation, and weight gain (due to water retention).
- Today, it affects 1.5 million French people, particularly those over 60. With the aging population, this figure could increase by 25% every four years. Despite its rapid rise, heart failure and its symptoms remain poorly understood and underestimated by the general population. Thus, in France, between 400,000 and 700,000 people suffer from it without knowing it.*
- It is therefore essential to know the signs that should direct you towards a medical consultation.
Management of heart failure at Caen Normandy University Hospital
The cardiology department at Caen Normandy University Hospital provides diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for this chronic and complex condition, particularly in the most serious cases. It offers expert, multidisciplinary care and innovative therapies (long-term cardiac support, follow-up of transplant patients, pre-transplant heart assessment), integrated into a structured and personalized care pathway in close collaboration with other cardiology professionals (interventional cardiology, imaging, remote patient monitoring after hospitalization).
