Blue March, a month dedicated to raising awareness about colorectal cancer

The Caen Normandy University Hospital is mobilizing: join us on  Tuesday, March 11th with the teams from the hepatology, gastroenterology and nutrition department.

Did you know that?

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in men (after prostate cancer and lung cancer ) and the second most common in women (after breast cancer ). 

In 2023, 47,582 new cases of colon or rectal cancer were diagnosed. 55% of diagnoses were in men (a figure decreasing by 0.5% per year since 2010) and 45% in women (a figure increasing by 0.4% per year). – source ameli.fr. It is diagnosed in 95% of cases after the age of 50. 

Thanks to screening and improved treatments, mortality is decreasing. Indeed, the earlier cancer is diagnosed, the better it can be treated, and the greater the chances of survival
