Inflammatory diseases of the bile ducts and autoimmune hepatitis
diseases and autoimmune hepatitis can affect both children and adults. They involve chronic inflammation, often of immune origin and rarely genetic, of the liver cells that produce bile and/or are involved in the liver's synthesis and detoxification functions. If left untreated, they can lead to cirrhosis; however, effective treatments exist that often allow for control of their progression.
The center at Caen Normandy University Hospital is coordinated by Dr. Isabelle Ollivier-Hourmand for adult patients and Professor Claire Dupont for children and adolescents. It is affiliated with the Reference Center for Inflammatory Biliary Tract Diseases and Autoimmune Hepatitis at Saint Antoine Hospital, and with the FILFOIE Network . It collaborates closely with the ALBI patient association .
A multidisciplinary team is involved in the care of patients.
