The main missions of a biobank to the scientific and medical community are:

  • To support the design and implementation of projects by providing expertise in biobanking
  • To guarantee quality biological resources from their collection to their provision
  • To guarantee ethical-regulatory compliance and respect for the patient
  • To make a contribution to clinical research and innovation through the valorization of biological resources.
  • Participate in national networks to enable the sharing of biological resources and the harmonization of practices.

For this, the entire biology center relies on its daily collections, reinforced and streamlined with the new emergency and rapid response platform and common biological reception ( PURR - ABC ) but also historical.

It draws on the recognized expertise of the Biological Resources Center ( CRB ) – InnovaBIO which is a service of the Caen Normandy University Hospital created in 2018 and attached to the Directorate of Research and Innovation ( DRI ) and in strong interaction with the biology center and which will move to the Biology-Research building. Research support structure, the CRB is doubly certified: NF S96-900: 2011 / ISO 20387: 2018 for its collection, reception, preparation, conservation and provision of biological resources of human origin for research. scientific and biomedical.
