The Caen Normandy University Hospital unveils its institutional project.

As a local healthcare facility for the entire population of the Caen area and a center of expertise and referral for the entire former Lower Normandy region, the Caen Normandy University Hospital has a healthcare offering spread across 3 sites: the Côte de Nacre plateau, the Clemenceau hospital and the La Charité Residence for the Elderly.

The Caen Normandy University Hospital has numerous centers of excellence, both in terms of care and in teaching and research.

Why a new institutional project?

  • to have a framework for action and defined objectives
  • to support the transformation of the university hospital and its reconstruction

This new institutional project is the result of a collaborative effort initiated by more than 200 healthcare professionals, engineers, doctors, administrative staff, and logistics personnel.
Representatives of users also contributed to the project.

The main points of the project

The 2022-2026 institutional project of the Caen Normandy University Hospital is divided into 3 major axes covering all of its missions of healthcare provision, teaching and research and structuring its territorial role:

  • to heal and care;
  • innovate and pass on knowledge;
  • to unite and bring people together.

Its aim is, in particular, to support the university hospital's reconstruction project, which represents modernization in service of the
region's healthcare and a better-designed work environment. The implementation of the hospital's strategic plan will gradually integrate new organizational structures and tools that will shape the hospital's operations from 2026 onwards.

This institutional project includes strong orientations such as the continuation of the development of outpatient services already
begun, notably with the opening in 2022 of the outpatient surgery platform, the overhaul of the internal organization of the university hospital's services, and the emphasis placed on a large-scale digital transformation.
