12th Regional Day of Supportive Oncology Care in Normandy

On Friday, September 26, 2025, the Hôtel Barrière Le Royal in Deauville will host the 12th Regional Day of Supportive Oncology Care (SOS). Organized by the OncoNormandie network, in partnership with AFSOS (French-speaking Association of Supportive Oncology Care), this meeting will bring together caregivers, associations and experts around a common objective: to improve the quality of life of cancer patients.

Why organize a day dedicated to supportive oncology care?

Supportive care is essential in the cancer care pathway. It was clearly defined in 2005 by the DHOS circular as the set of care and support necessary for sick people, throughout the illness, in conjunction with specific treatments when applicable. In other words, it concerns everything that helps the patient live better during and after treatment. This day is here to recall this essential dimension and share best practices in Normandy.

What will be the main themes addressed this year?

The program is rich and varied. We'll discuss pain, sexuality, and cancer, as well as complementary solutions like acupuncture. Workshops are also planned on cognitive disorders and disabilities, as well as the latest published studies on SOS. The idea is to alternate between lectures, feedback, and practical discussions, so that everyone can leave with concrete tools to use in their daily professional lives.

Why is it important to bring together so many different profiles around these topics?

Supportive care is, by its very nature, cross-functional. It involves all the caregivers involved, as well as patient associations… each with a unique approach and specific expertise. By bringing everyone together, we create a collective dynamic that directly benefits patients. It's also an opportunity to highlight existing regional resources and encourage new collaborations.
