    Disabled

    Training and disability

    With regard to the law of February 11, 2005 for equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of people with disabilities, the principles of non-discrimination and accessibility are applied to training.

    A disability representative is in contact with all the paramedical training structures at the CAEN University Hospital. Students can contact her via the address: pfp-sec-dir@chu-caen.fr

    Vigilant point:

    There is no obligation for the student to communicate their disability situation to their training structure, either at the time of the competition or during the course of study.

    The disability situation of a candidate or student is confidential, even if it may be a secret shared between professionals in the training structure.

    Cost

    Funding

    Training has an educational cost.
    It is necessary to anticipate the financing arrangements for your training and your resources. Financing for the training year depends on your situation the day before you start training. To be able to benefit from funding from the Region as a job seeker, proof of registration with France Travail must be provided.
    If you followed a diploma or certification training course financed by the Region less than 10 months ago (e.g. professional ADVF title), you will not be able to benefit from funding for your nursing assistant training. This rule does not apply to people continuing their education.

    Funding from the region

    Students continuing their education, or who have been out of the school system for less than 9 months, can obtain a scholarship awarded by the Region.
    This is granted according to the resources of year N-2 (either parents, spouse, or personal resources). The request is made after confirmation of entry into training on the CROUS de Normandie website under the “paramedical and social scholarships” tab (http://www.crous-normandie.fr/).
    For more information, you can consult the Normandy Region’s “ job path ” website under the “training for health and social care professions” section.

    Learning

    Each year we have 10 places for apprenticeship contracts.

    Any candidate wishing to complete training under an apprenticeship contract must first contact the CFA PSS (Apprentice Training Center · Health and Social Professions) in Normandy.

    Quiz

    Innovative teaching methods

    Develop your skills through simulation

    As part of the training framework, the use of active teaching methods, such as health simulation, is recommended. The IFAS of Caen University Hospital wanted to develop this method based on reflexivity and the ethical principle “never the first time on a patient[1] . This involves acquiring skills, procedures, knowledge or developing cooperation between several actors (multi-professionality). The error is not punished but shared and analyzed, thus becoming a lever for professional reflection and learning.

    Based on the simulation typology we propose the following scenarios:

    • Written simulations based on concrete cases or scenarios supporting discussions and reflections around the care of a patient in a given situation;
    • Simulations on basic mannequins (low fidelity) allowing training in professional gestures (ergonomics, gestures and emergency care, etc.);
    • Standardized patients: these are simulated patients or role-playing games allowing caregiver-patient interaction. This involves developing technical relational skills in scripted situations (welcome interviews, crisis situation management, etc.);
    • Simulation with medium fidelity mannequin: the objective is to put learners in a progressive situation, to mobilize their knowledge and to acquire skills.

    To carry out these sessions, we have 7 practical work rooms equipped with low and medium fidelity mannequins as well as a simulation room allowing recording and live broadcast in the debriefing room.

    Training

    Multiple, quality educational support

    The training is provided by trainers, State Qualified Nurses, who have varied professional experience and university qualifications: University Diplomas, Licenses, Masters, etc.

    Permanent trainers work in collaboration with university teachers and field professionals. For several years, students have benefited from a university digital platform which allows them access to educational content remotely.

    A tool for success

    Support for learners is based on three intervention methods :

    • Individualized Educational Support (API): 35 hours (in the first three months of training)

    Provide targeted educational support taking into account the diversity of profiles and new methods of access to training.

    • Individualized educational monitoring of learners: 7 hours (distributed throughout the training):

    Educational monitoring is addressed individually and collectively (7 hours per student). It is defined as support for the student, by a representative from the teaching team.

    The interviews, which aim to monitor progress, are conducted based on the results of theoretical and clinical evaluations; assessments of skills developed during internships; internship reports; of the various works carried out.

    • Guided personal work (TPG): 35 hours (distributed among the different modules):

    Which aims to support personal work: preparatory work before contributions, revision time, etc.

    Evaluation methods

    The validation of the training is based on a continuous evaluation system.

    For each of the blocks, a first assessment test is organized followed by a second session, called a catch-up session, for candidates who did not pass the first.

    Assessment methods: Individual or collective

    Online homework submissions, table assignments, oral presentations (in groups or individually) of work, simulated situations, analysis of clinical situations.

    School integrated into a health training center…

    The Nursing Assistant school is part of a training center which includes:

    • initial training : nurse, paramedic, nursing assistant, medical electroradiology technician
    • specialty training : operating room nurse, childcare worker
    • the training of health managers
    • medical training : medicine, pharmacy, maieutics, speech therapy

    The grouping of these training courses on a single site makes it possible to develop shared and innovative educational activities: lessons and multi-professional internships.

    The building is accessible to people with disabilities. A disability adviser is in contact with all the training structures. The students concerned can contact her via the school secretariat.

    Hospitalization

    Professional and diversified internship sites

    There are 4 clinical internships, privileged learning times for professional practice ( duration of 5 weeks for the first 3 chosen by the teaching team, and 7 weeks for the last internship called "professional project" ; 770 hours ).

    For an internship to be validated, the effective attendance time of the student must be at least 80%. Over the entire clinical training course of the student, absences cannot exceed 10% of the total duration of the internships.

    They are carried out in the hospital or extra-hospital sector, in health, social or medico-social establishments and necessarily in each of the following structures:

    • Care service for people with physical or mental disabilities;
    • Elderly care service.

    Students have the opportunity to benefit from a variety of internship sites at the CHU or in other establishments in Calvados:

    • University Hospital including medical, surgical, elderly, paediatrics, psychiatric and high-tech services;
    • Psychiatric and Mental Health establishments, in hospitals or in external reception structures;

    Certification/diploma modalities

    At the end of the 44 weeks of training, the file is presented to the jury for awarding the State nursing assistant diploma appointed by the Regional Prefect and organized by the DREETS .

    The diploma (Level 4) is issued subject to validation of all the blocks of skills acquired in theoretical, practical and professional training. Access to certification is only open to students who have not accumulated more than five percent of justified absence, not made up, over the whole of the training.
