The CHU Caen Normandie IADE school offers many simulated activities within the NORSIMS Health Simulation Center . They mainly break down into 2 types:
- procedural simulation, which consists of learning and repeating a specific procedure;
- high-fidelity simulation, which involves using a high-fidelity dummy to recreate emergency situations in a reconstituted work environment (operating theatre, recovery room, out-of-hospital) .
IADE students from Caen Normandy University Hospital have the opportunity to develop healthcare research. Indeed, many of them are part of an approach inspired by biomedical sciences. This method usually involves the development of a research protocol validated by the committee for the protection of people enrolling in a Hospital Nursing and Paramedical Research Program.
Multiple, quality educational support
The training is provided by trainers health executives, a nursing (è) s anesthetists of state graduates, who have various professional experience and university titles: university diplomas, licenses, masters.
The permanent trainers work in collaboration with university teachers and professionals in the field. Since 2013, students have benefited from a university digital platform that allows them access to educational content remotely.
Support and assistance system for success
Support for students revolves around the reflective analysis of learning situations allowing the implementation of transposable and therefore integrated skills.
By associating reflective practice with the analysis of practices, the IADE student questions himself, and works on the co-construction of the meaning given to the practice and/or the improvement of professional techniques. The training managers therefore seek to mobilize the student's capacities for analysis, self-assessment and constructive criticism.
Support is both individual and collective for the professional research dissertation and begins from the 1st year of the Master's degree.
Pedagogical support is organized throughout the training by the teaching team. Each student benefits from at least one internship supervision during semesters 2 and 3 of the training.
During the training, the pedagogical follow-up is also individual and collective. They can be organized on a regular basis according to the stages of training and at the request of the student or the referent trainer.
Evaluation methods
The validation of the training is based on a continuous evaluation system. Each validation of teaching unit and each internship is valued by one or more European Credits ( ECTS ):
- 30 ECTS for teaching units per year of training,
- 30 ECTS for practical internship training per year of training.
Assessment methods: Individual or collective
School integrated into a health training center…
The nurse anesthetist school is part of a training center where are grouped:
- initial training : nurse, paramedic, nursing assistant, medical electroradiology technician
- specialty training : operating room nurse, childcare worker
- the training of health managers
- medical training : medicine, pharmacy, maieutics, speech therapy
The grouping of these training courses on a single site makes it possible to develop shared and innovative educational activities: lessons and multi-professional internships.
The building is accessible to people with disabilities. A disability adviser is in contact with all the training structures. The students concerned can contact her via the school secretariat.
Professional and diversified internship sites
Internships are carried out in sectors approved by the school and take place mainly at the CAEN University Hospital and in hospitals in the region by agreement.
At the request of a student, an internship in another establishment can be accepted if it meets the “qualifying” internship criteria defined by the school according to the recommendations of the training framework.
Each internship is recognized as qualifying by the establishment of a welcome booklet specifying the training offer (currently being developed in the institutions) and an internship agreement.
The internship course includes 34 weeks of compulsory disciplines (provides training guidelines, appendix III of the decree of July 23, 2012). For the remaining 24 weeks:
- 8 weeks will be of the student's choice: optional internship responding to the student's project and the training requirements: qualifying internship.
- 16 weeks will be distributed at the choice of the teaching team. For students whose professional background includes little or no experience:
- In intensive care, the teaching team will be able to organize a 3 or 4 week internship in this discipline as part of their practical training course;
- In SSPI, here too, a one-week course (as part of the pain course: compulsory discipline) may be offered by the teaching team
The student is placed under the direct responsibility of a resuscitator anesthesiologist, an internship supervisor, a tutor or a nurse anesthetist supervisor or any other medical or paramedical professional for internships outside the operating blocks. operatives.
Certification/diploma modalities
The State Diploma is acquired by obtaining 120 ECTS corresponding to the acquisition of the 7 skills of the reference system. The validation of these teaching units is attested by a half-yearly jury.
The Regional Directorate for the Economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity ( DREETS ) guarantees the certification of the State Diploma.
In accordance with the decree of September 23, 2014 relating to the creation of a “Diploma Supplement” annex , students have, at the end of the training, a Master's degree delivered by the University of Caen. They also benefit from a “supplement to the state diploma of nurse anesthetist which “ aims to provide independent and sufficient data to improve international “transparency” and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications (diplomas, academic achievements, certificates, etc…)”.
