Brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer death in children and adults under 40.

These tumors pose a major challenge: approximately 13,000 people, including 900 children and young people, receive a diagnosis of primary brain tumor each year.

The most common type, glioblastoma, now offers little hope: treatments have not evolved in 20 years, and only 13% of adults survive five years after the diagnosis of a high-grade brain tumor.

Research opens new avenues

A team of researchers, the OncoCare laboratory, led by Professor Levallet, is developing an innovative approach based on small RNAs, messengers present in cells.

Goals

Understanding communication between tumor cells via tiny bridges.

To leverage this network to administer personalized treatments directly to the heart of tumors.

Develop a blood test to monitor the progression of tumors.
