To offer a warm and welcoming place to accommodate the parents of hospitalized children who live far from Caen.
Faced with this debilitating illness, at least one parent is forced to interrupt their professional activity to devote themselves fully to their sick child. At the same time, they are obliged to find accommodation in a hotel in the area for the entire duration of their child's hospitalization.
However, the Caen Normandy University Hospital (CHU Caen Normandie) goes far beyond simply providing high-quality medical care. Indeed, through its CHU Caen Normandie Foundation , it plans to offer accommodation and support for parents whose children are hospitalized. These parents come from the Manche, Orne, Eure, and Seine-Maritime departments, as well as from other regions of Western France such as Clermont-Ferrand, Bordeaux, Rennes, Brest, Le Mans, and many others. The renowned CHU Caen Normandie, known for its exceptional care for pediatric cancers, attracts many families to Caen.
The Caen Normandy University Hospital Foundation is committed to funding the flagship project of the Maison des Familles (Family House), a welcoming accommodation space for parents of hospitalized children who live far from Caen. By creating this refuge, the project addresses the challenges faced by families, offering them a haven of peace during the difficult hospitalizations of their children. This compassionate and essential initiative supports the entire community.

Testimonials
Aurélia, mother of 8-year-old Simon
Saint-Pierre-Église, 50
“For us parents, 50% of the stress is due to logistics, meaning accommodation. If we're told: tomorrow you'll have a room next door, you have no idea how much better that will make us!”
Pascal, father of 10-year-old Quentin
Cherbourg, 50
“We need to be present for our child because he needs us. Rooms for parents would be very beneficial.”
Tiphaine, Adrien's mother
Cherbourg, 50
“Without the support and loan of accommodation at the future Family House of the University Hospital, we would not have experienced Adrien's hospitalization in the same way.”
