The Residence for the elderly · La Charité welcomes 260 residents with a loss of physical and/or psychological autonomy under care in an EHPAD (Accommodation Establishment for Dependent Elderly Persons) or USLD (Long-term care unit) . Attached to the CHU Caen Normandie, the Residence fulfills public service obligations by welcoming people qualified for social assistance without distinction of sex, culture and religion. It is keen to promote values ​​oriented towards respect for the dignity of individuals.

The residence ensures the organization of care and reinforced medical follow-up (doctors, various health professionals, etc.) to provide people with the medical assistance necessary for the best possible quality of life in their place of residence.

    The quality of care

    The organization makes it possible to offer quality care for chronic pathologies, appropriate management of acute pathologies with, if necessary, recourse to sector health structures; Finally, it also aims to maintain and prevent the loss of autonomy in the elderly.

    The CHU Caen Normandie residence for the elderly is therefore a place of life which permanently ensures the people received:

    • accommodation and hotels;
    • animation activities with a view to maintaining social ties;
    • paramedical care and medical monitoring;
    • daily living aids and maintenance care depending on the resident's state of dependency;
    • maintenance of autonomy and/or stimulation for the resumption of autonomy by the elderly person.

    A goal of good quality of life

    Offering the people received services aimed at making daily life pleasant, this requires taking into account their wishes and lifestyle, the organization of stimulating, soothing or fun activities, quality hotel services and finally maintaining of the social bond essential to the quality of life. The establishment must be perceived as a priority, in its architecture but also in the representations of the professionals who intervene within the structure, as a place of residence and life.

    A mission of assistance in the gestures of daily life
