Infection Prevention & Control
Infection Prevention & Control ( IPC ) strives to prevent and/or control infections associated with procedures and the healthcare environment (IAS), to limit the transmission of potentially infectious agents, to promote and measure the application practices currently recognized by specialists in this field and based on evidence. It thus aims to protect both patients or users of the healthcare system and professionals from the risk of contamination, but also to fight against antibiotic resistance.
Infection Prevention & Control department is now integrated into the DAI (Department of Infectious Agents).

Activities
Prevention of healthcare-associated infections- The EOH (Operational Hygiene Team) participates in the development of the prevention strategy with an Infection Prevention and Control ( IPC ) program. It declines and adapts existing reference systems to the local context, disseminates them, and oversees the implementation of actions to prevent healthcare-associated infections in collaboration with the clinical and medico-technical departments.
Training and informationThe EOH contributes to the definition and implementation of the training plan for professionals around the risk of infection and its management in collaboration with the medical and nursing supervision of the services or sectors of activity, in the field of the prevention of healthcare-associated infections, infectious risks linked to the healthcare environment and epidemic and biological risks.
Surveillance and reporting of adverse events of an infectious natureMonitoring the risk of infection concerns the frequency of healthcare-associated infections or the monitoring of certain microbiological quality indicators of the healthcare environment, as well as alerts and reporting, including serious adverse events associated with healthcare.
The EOH participates in the development of the clinical surveillance strategy for patients and the environment (epidemiological surveillance of infections, plan for microbiological environmental samples in sectors subject to surveillance, etc.).
The EOH communicates within the establishment on IAS monitoring data, the results and the evolution of the indicators, the alerts contributing to the information of the decision-makers with a view to improving practices and organizations.
The evaluation of professional practicesThe EOH has a major role in the implementation of the evaluation of professional practices ( EPP ) in the field of PCI (program of audits, risk visits, etc.) and the development of indicators making it possible to evaluate the implementation of the IPC in the establishment. These assessments contribute to the design and development of professional practice improvement programs and their follow-up.
Hospital Hygiene LaboratoryThe laboratory takes samples and microbiological analyzes of the environment within the establishment in connection with the monitoring and prevention of environmental infectious risk. The activity of the laboratory includes the microbiological analysis of water (drinkability, for standard care, hemodialysis, etc.) , endoscopes, air and surfaces in controlled atmosphere zones and the sterility of pharmaceutical products. The laboratory also participates in the investigation of infectious events of environmental origin.

Teaching and research
teaching
EOH professionals participate each year in teaching future medical and paramedical health professionals in the region.
The EOH is involved in various research projects on the prevention of the risk of infection and regularly publishes scientific articles in the field of the prevention of IAS.
The research
For basic research, the Dynamicure unit:
UMR1311 – DYNAMICURE (Ex GRAM 2.0 – EA2656) focuses on the adaptation of microbial agents to the host and in its environment as well as the evolutionary and ecological dynamics associated with infection. epidemic circulation and the emergence of new pathogenic agents.
