The Caen and Apneal University Hospital are testing a new screening approach

New screening for sleeping apnea syndrome (SAOS) for patients with higher aerodigestive tracks (VADS) thanks to the APNEAL application

Innovative screening for sleeping apnea syndrome (SAOS) in Patients with VADS cancer with the APNEAL application.

The CAEN CHU and the Apneal start-up are launching an innovative clinical research aimed at testing a new method of screening for sleeping sleep apnea syndrome (SAOS) in patients with higher aerodigestive tracks (VADS).

SAOS, frequent is often sub-diagnosed and can have serious consequences such as fatigue, cardiovascular complications or poor quality of life The anatomical changes linked to VADS cancers and their treatments could promote the appearance of this syndrome, making its screening essential.

The study, carried out within the CHU Caen Normandie ENT department , assesses the feasibility of the Apneal digital application, an innovative technology using artificial intelligence, to detect sleep apnea directly via a smartphone.

The objective is to analyze the frequency of SAOS and thus identify patients to screen systematically in the future. Currently, the application is in the validation phase in a European clinical trial.

A promising progress for more accessible and efficient screening!
