Order of April 11, 2022 relating to the training leading to the State diploma of Ambulance and the conditions of training of the paramedic auxiliary
Art. 2 – The ambulance attendant is authorized to drive the light medical vehicle and the ambulance. He can also be the paramedic's teammate in the ambulance.
The professional holding the position of paramedic must have:
- A driving license outside the probationary period that complies with the regulations in force and is valid;
- The prefectural certificate of fitness to drive an ambulance after a medical examination carried out under the conditions defined in article R.221-10 of the Highway Code;
- A medical certificate of no contraindications to the profession of ambulance driver issued by an approved doctor (absence of locomotor or psychological problems, of a handicap incompatible with the profession: visual, hearing handicap, amputation of a limb, etc.) ;
- A medical certificate of vaccinations in accordance with article L.3111-4 of the public health code;
- A 70-hour training certificate
- Level 2 Emergency Gesture and Care Training Certificate.

Training
Approval and operating authorization
The Ambulance School is authorized by the president of the Normandy Regional Council Auxiliary Ambulance training session . It is headed by a director, approved by the president of the Normandy Region . It is responsible for the approvals and operating authorization of the school.
There are 3 sessions per year.
We are QUALIOPI certified
AFNOR certifies that the CAEN University Hospital Center has been judged to comply with the requirements for carrying out training activities.
Entry into training
Applications are processed in chronological order of arrival at the IFA (whether submitted or sent by post) , the date taken into account being the official opening date for registrations. The files are then classified by age of the candidates, from oldest to youngest.
Places can be reserved:
- Candidates on fixed-term contracts as a driver at the time of registration and justifying employment at the end of training,
- Candidates on AFPR, POEI contracts, etc.
- Candidates in professional retraining and justifying a job at the end of training.
The number of reserved places can go from 3 to 5 maximum. The candidates concerned must contact the secretariat as soon as possible and before sending the file.
Unsuccessful applications are filed. In case of withdrawal, a place may be offered. Candidates not called will be given priority for the following session, subject to confirming in writing that their candidacy will be maintained within the time allowed. Each candidate will receive a letter with his ranking and the reply coupon.
Training aims
In accordance with the decree of April 11, 2022 relating to the training leading to the state ambulance technician diploma and the training conditions of the paramedic auxiliary, the training lasts 91 hours .
Art. 2 – This training covers hygiene, professional principles and values, the relational approach towards team members and patients, the principles of ergonomics and the gestures and postures adapted during mobilizations, walking aids , travel and carrying or stretching, and the rules of medical transport.
Training and Disability
With regard to the law of February 11, 2005 for equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of people with disabilities, the principles of non-discrimination and accessibility are applied to training.

Points of vigilance:
There is no obligation for the student to communicate their disability situation to their training structure, either at the time of the competition or during their studies.
The disability situation of a candidate or student is confidential, even if it may be a secret shared between professionals in the training structure.
Funding
The training costs 1215 euros.
Since January 1, 2022, training is no longer eligible for the CPF within the IFA of the Caen University Hospital

Training within a school integrated into a health training center
All courses are organized at the PFRS .
The building is accessible to people with disabilities. A disability referent is present at the paramedical training center (contact details available on request from the school secretariat) .
Certification methods
The training does not lead to a diploma. The student must obtain a score equal to or greater than 10 out of 20 on the written assessment to be issued a training certificate and the AFGSU level 2. The written assessment on the table lasts one hour. .
